A warm welcome awaits you on the shores of the Firth of Forth

Easter Camping at Drummohr Camping and Glamping Site

Category

There are so many advantages of taking family breaks UK and for many families the Easter weekend is their first opportunity to get away. Springtime is a wonderful time for Easter camping, with the days getting longer, the gardens, fields and verges full of Spring bulbs and the countryside and East Lothian coastline alive with the sounds of nature awakening. If you are lucky, you may spot a porpoise or whale in the Firth of Forth and early Spring sees the puffins and gannets returning to the Isle of May or Bass Rock. Camping Easter weekend can bring blue skies and sunny days and crisp clear evenings, perfect for exploring everything that Edinburgh and East Lothian have to offer. The campsites and attractions can also be quieter than they would be in the Summer allowing you more space, time and freedom to enjoy.

Here at Drummohr Camping and Glamping Site we offer a range of accommodation for all the family, making us a perfect destination for affordable family breaks UK.  One of only a few caravan sites open all year round in Scotland, we offer Easter camping with a choice of grass or hard-standing tent and touring pitches, all with electric, glamping pods including our themed Fairy, Adventure and Wizard Hexi glamping pods, family bothies with WC or, for those who prefer a touch of luxury, a choice of 2 or 3-bedroom holiday lodges with hot tubs Scotland.

Located just 10 minutes by train from Edinburgh, a short walk from the shores of the Firth of Forth or a 10-minute drive to some of the most fabulous East Lothian beaches you don’t have to travel too far on your camping Easter weekend to make the most of the local area. Or why not relax on our caravan site in one of our recently refurbished lodges with hot tubs Scotland? There is a dog walk and children’s playground on our Edinburgh campsite. On our caravan site over our Easter camping weekend we have a number of child friendly activities including an Easter egg hunt and egg decorating. There are also lots of local events in Edinburgh and East Lothian to enjoy without having to travel too far.

Our tips for Easter camping

Open all year round, Drummohr is an ideal location for camping Easter weekend. But make sure you come prepared and pack for all weathers on your family breaks UK. In 2023 Good Friday falls on Friday 7th April which means that the days may be cool or there may be a Spring shower. If you don’t fancy bringing your tent our Hexi glamping pods or family bothies with WC are a great value for money alternative. All our touring and tent pitches have electric so bring a heater if you have one and we offer fire pits for hire for the evenings. What can be better than reflecting on the day with some toasted marshmallows? Warm and waterproof clothes and a blanket are also recommended. Why not check out our Drummohr CAMPING CHECKLIST to make sure you don’t forget anything? Bring some books and board games for the children, although we do have some available in our Information Room if required. Our newly refurbished amenity block has underfloor heating and plenty of free hot water and there is an indoor campers kitchen with freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle for those staying in tents on our caravan sites. If you are planning on visiting one of the East Lothian beaches, make sure you pack sunscreen.

Drummohr is ideal for Edinburgh camping and there are many Edinburgh attractions, some of them free, that are perfect if the weather is not too kind. The bus stop to Princes St is a 5-minute walk from the caravan sites entrance and takes around an hour. The train station at Wallyford is about a 15-minute walk and trains run every hour to Edinburgh Waverley.
